Last week was Thanksgiving weekend. Kristin had invited me to come celebrate with her family, so I was really excited. We drove to Austin the night before so we wouldn’t be caught in too much traffic. When we got there Kristin’s mother was working like crazy in the kitchen. Enough food was prepared to feed a small community. Good thing so many people stopped by to say Happy Thanksgiving. That way the huge selection of Hors d’oeuvres was reduced. Needles to say that we did not go home hungry. I even helped bake one of the pies. And yes the word pie is in plural because there were no less than four different types of pie. Pumpkin Pie is now my favourite kind of pie. The pecan and Chocolate Silk Pie do, however, share a close 2nd place on the pie-race. I wonder how many different types of pie really exist(?). It will be my mission to figure that out and what would be more splendid than to have a pie-baking-contest? Nothing. So I hereby challenge everyone I know to bake a pie and send me a piece. So if you think you have the beset pie: Get started baking. I will need a couple of people to help me figure out which is the best pie, so if you think you are qualified to be a pie-judge let me know! Aa big THANK YOU to Kristin and her family for letting me experience the very American holiday of Thanksgiving.
After Thanksgiving ends Christmas begins. Those of you who know me really well also know that I am a huge fan of Christmas. Kristin, Patrick, KJ, and I decided to kickstart the Christmas season by going to the Ballet to see the old Christmas show of the Nutcracker. It was absolutely beautiful. We actually got to see the very first black ballet solo dancer in action. Since this was her last show she got an extra applause from the four of us!!!
Right now I am studying for my exams. One is already over and I have two more to go before I can enjoy Christmas vacation. So keep your fingers crossed for me.
